People sometimes get hurt in the business of living. The human body is subject to disease, injuries and various mishaps of accidental or intentional character. Today medicine treats the body when there is something wrong with it. But it overlooks almost totally the relationship of the spiritual being to his body and the effect the former has on the latter. L Ron Hubbard developed numerous applications of his discoveries for the mental and spiritual aspects of a person’s physical difficulties. And as more and more techniques evolved, a new body of technology came into use, called “Assists.”
Here at Bournemouth Mission we have Volunteer Ministers (VM's) who have started an Assist group in their local town of Weymouth. On a weekly basis they train friends, work colleagues or anyone on how to deliver Assists. Anyone can learn these techniques to really help another who is suffering from pain or mental trauma. One volunteer within the group gives regular Assists daily. She has been called the “Miracle Worker” at her place of work. Recently one of our VM’s took the Assist bed into the street and delivered Assists right there!
Bournemouth Volunteer Ministers work closely with other charitable organizations such as the British Heart Foundation where thousands of pounds have been raised to help others in need.

Other Volunteer Ministers are using LRH’s tech in their place of work not just to aid themselves but to improve their company. One VM enlightened the whole work force (250) on Study Tech to help them all learn more effectively. Others have their juniors working off an Organizing Board.
For the last five years the VM’s have ridden in a 25-mile charity cycle and £1000’s have been raised for the British Heart foundation.
VM’s were asked to give a talk on Dianetics and Scientology to a group of Young Farmers in the local Dorset area and this was so successful that they were invited back to carry out an after-dinner speech at their main event of the year.
The Learning Zone
The Bournemouth Mission’s community program “The Learning Zone” addresses the underlining reason for illiteracy ” the technology on how to study.

Consider this for a moment: In all your schooling, did anyone ever teach you
how to study something? Well we have the answer for you!
Every Saturday morning from 10.30am — 1pm we offer a free service for anyone who has learning difficulties. We have been open for over seven months now and since February this year we have introduced over 30 new people to “Study Technology". We have a great group of tutors and students who work together to create a fun environment. The technology provides an understanding of the basics of learning and supplies exact ways to overcome all the pitfalls one can encounter during studying. We currently are helping a boy with autism and he is doing really well! Here are some of the many benefits children have gained from our help: "The second book, Learning how to Learn, was brilliant and I learned a lot with it. I think that this school is the best in the world and the teachers are so understanding and patient.” M.D.F. June 2003. “ I have enjoyed the sketching drills. I also enjoyed the reading and working with other students on drills. I learned about the barriers to study and I want to carry on studying!” D.P. April 2003.
If you would like any help or advice for yourself or for one of your children contact us on 01202 257788 and ask for the Learning Zone. This is a free service.
